Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

TIU women's soccer wins at Calumet St. Joseph

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. --- The Trinity International University women's soccer team took on the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave on Saturday afternoon in East Chicago, Indiana.

The Trojans started out strong but struggled to find the back of the net off the goaltending ability of Jade Newton, who maintained a clean slate throughout the first half. Although the first half was scoreless, it saw TIU in solid control, rarely having to fall back into their defensive half.

TIU would break the deadlock after a quick counter attack would find Hannah Fuchs, who served the ball to  Makena Walker, who in turn would volley the ball into the upper right corner of the goal in the 53rd minute. The Trojans would continue their excellent play the second half with seven shots and a second goal coming after a long service to Lauren Henn from the back line, who snuck the ball past the goalkeeper off the post and into the net in the 78th minute en route to the 2-0 win.

The Trojans defense stood firm, as they denied the Crimson Wave from having a single opportunity to shoot during the entire, giving Rebecca Wells a win shutout for the second consecutive game.

TIU returns home on Wednesday, October 2 at Schartner Field to host the Cardinal Stritch Wolves. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM.
