Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Olsson scores lone goal in win over Lakers

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. --- The TIU women's soccer team took the short trip to nearby Arlington Heights on Saturday afternoon as they visited the Lakers of Roosevelt University in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action. Coming off a difficult 2-1 loss to Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday, the Trojans looked to break out of their recent three-match skid and rebuild their confidence entering the final month of the regular season.

The Laker offense would bring everything they had in Saturday's match, putting intense pressure on the Trinity defense and goalkeeper Sarah Davis. However, TIU's defense would keep Roosevelt off the score sheet for the first half as the two teams entered halftime scoreless.

The blue and white would break through in the second half as Lakers keeper Gaby Aguinaga-Hernandez failed to clear a shot attempt on goal, allowing Abigail Olsson to score on the error. Mother nature would play a role in Saturday's match as rain would force the match to be ended after 86 minutes due to time constraints, giving Trinity the 1-0 victory.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • With their win, TIU improves to 9-2-0 all-time against Roosevelt. The Trojan have now won four of the last five meetings.

  • Saturday's victory snaps Trinity's three-match losing streak.

  • Abigail Olsson's goal was her tenth of the season, and 13th of her career.

  • Goalkeeper Sarah Davis reached 99 career saves with six today against Roosevelt. She passes Allison Budden (2004) for seventh most in program history, and became the seventh TIU keeper to reach 100 career with her next save.

  • Davis surpassed 2,000 career minutes in goal with 86 minutes in net on Saturday, becoming the fifth Trinity keeper to ever reach that milestone.
