CHICAGO, Ill. --- TIU guard Sterling Brown has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (CCAC) player of the week for men's basketball, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Brown, a senior from Carmel, Indiana, earns his first career player of the week honor from the CCAC after an impressive performance in Trojan Basketball Classic last weekend, where he averaged 26 points per game during TIU's home opening win against Lincoln Christian, and their overtime loss to Culver-Stockton. Sterling also shot 56% from beyond the arc and dished out 5.5 assists to his teammates over the weekend. He is also the first Trojan to earn conference player of the week honors since Zach Kirschbaum in January of 2017.

Brown, who transferred to TIU after playing last season at Trinity Christian College, ranks second on the team in scoring through the first four games of the season (20.3 PPG) and first in three-point shooting percentage (50%). Sterling also earned second team all-conference honors from the CCAC, as well as all-academic recognition from the league last season with the Trolls. 

"We're proud of Sterling for his development on and off the court," said TIU head coach Greg Miller. "His play on the floor is evidence of his desire to win at Trinity International. You can't put a price tag on the leadership he brings to our team, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings for him and our program."

Brown and the Trojans return to action tonight as they visit Trinity Christian in their 2021-22 conference opener in Palos Heights. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm CT at DeVos Gymnasium, and can be watched LIVE on the Trolls Sports Network.
