Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Trinity struggles in loss at St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill. --- The TIU women's basketball team travelled to Joliet late on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Fighting Saints of the University of St. Francis in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action. Coming off an 11-point loss at Trinity Christian to open league play on Wednesday, the Trojans would face a tough challenge against the one of the conference's toughest teams.

Like in Wednesday night's game, Trinity's opponent would jump out to a big lead early as the Saints pulled ahead 16-2 in the first seven minutes of play as the Trojans struggled to find the bottom of the net. TIU would slow down the USF offense in the second quarter, but would still have challenges scoring as the Saints went into halftime ahead 31-17.

Trinity's struggles offensively would continue into the third quarter as the Trojans were held to just four points in the quarter as St. Francis continued to build their lead. Able to limit their overall number of turnovers, TIU posted their most efficent period in the fourth as Alina Jahnke posted nine points in the final ten minutes of action, as Trinity fell to the Fighting Saints by a final score of 71-38.

Jahnke led the game with 15 total points for TIU, as Da'Naria Washington posted a team-high seven rebounds with six points.  Carly Scheblo notched six points and two assists in the loss, while Aniyjha Graves scored five points.
