Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Trojans rally for win at Cardinal Stritch

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. --- Playing their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday, the TIU women's basketball team traveled up to southern Wisconsin on Tuesday night as they took on the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action. Following their first conference win of the season, the Trojans looked to win consecutive games for the second time this season.

Trinity would struggle to shoot from the floor in the opening quarter, making just 16% of their shots as the Wolves opened up a 21-9 through the first ten minutes. TIU began to turn the corner in the second as they forced three CSU turnovers to chip away at the Wolves' lead. Heading into the halftime break, the Trojans would trail 36-28.

TIU came out of the break with another strong quarter in the third, hitting a trio of three-point baskets to pull within four points at 51-47. Trinity, led by an impressive fourth quarter from Da'Naria Washington, slowed Cardinal Stritch's offense down to 24% shooting. With four made free throws in six trips to the charity stripe and a pair of three-point shots by Washington and Louisa Schmidt, the Trojans would take the lead on a Taylor Hibicke layup with four and a half minutes to go and never look back, holding off a late Wolves rally for the 67-63 win.

Hibicke ended the night with a team-high 16 points in the win, while Washington posted 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Schmidt notched 12 points and five boards in the come-from-behind victory, as Alina Jahnke recorded a ten point, ten rebound double-double with four blocked shots. Carly Scheblo also posted double-digits with ten points, five rebounds, and three assists.
