BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- Sitting two games over .500, the TIU men's basketball team welcomed the Judson Eagles to Van Dixhorn Arena on Wednesday night in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Coming off a five-point win at Maranatha Baptist last weekend, the Trojans looked to notch their longest winning streak of the season.
TIU dominated the first half in all aspects of the game, forcing ten Eagle turnovers and shooting 70% percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes. Jack Kahoun put together a strong opening half with 16 points, including four made three-pointers. Brandon McQueen also stole three balls and helped hold Judson to 34% shooting as Trinity rolled into the break, leading 50-27.
The Eagles however came storming back out of halftime, opening the frame on a 13-4 run in the first six minutes. While the Trojans never relinquished control of the lead, they did see their lead shrink to as little as three points, largely in part to foul trouble. However, Judson also faced issues staying out of foul trouble, allowing the Trojans the chance to expand their diminished lead at the charity stripe. Despite being outscored 46-34 in the half, TIU was able to secure the game as McQueen got hot from beyond the arc with a pair of three's late to give Trinity the 84-73 win.Â
McQueen led TIU with 29 points and eight rebounds in the win, while both Kahoun and Brandon Lawani each noted 19 points.
