WAUKEGAN, Ill. --- The TIU women's soccer team hosted the Saint Xavier Cougars at the Waukgean Sports Park in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play on Saturday afternoon. Coming off a difficult loss at Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday, the Trojans looked to snap their three-match losing streak.
The game was off to an even first half, despite Trinity having to battle the wind in their faces for the first 45 minutes.. Although both teams had opportunities in the attacking half, both struggled to find the back of the net. TIU notched six shots while SXU had just two in the opening half as both teams remained scoreless.
The second half would lean in favor of the Trojans as the wind would help them in the attacking zone. TIU would crack the scoreboard in the 56th minute as Chloe Kostos slipped the ball to Lauren Henn, who put it just past Cougars goalkeeper Dayanna Gonzalez to give Trinity the 1-0 lead.
Henn would find the back of the net again on a great service from Abigail Olsson again in the 74th minute to extend the Trojan lead to 2-0. TIU would ice the game with a final goal from Madison Martinez on a volley into the top left corner of the goal with a service from Cameron Hunter in the 89th minute to complete the 3-0 shutout.Â
