PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- The TIU women's soccer team visited the 20th-ranked Troll of Trinity Christian College on Wednesday afternoon in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play at Shaaf Field. Coming off a 3-0 shutout of Saint Xavier over the weekend, TIU looked to string together consecutive wins for the first time this season against their conference rival.
Trinity Christian got out to a fast start as Demi Scibetta snuck her first shot behind Trojan goalkeeper Sarah Davis to put the Trolls up 1-0 just 34 seconds into the match. Just three minutes later, Brianna Uhl would find the back of the net to extend the Trolls lead to two. Katie Drenth would tack on her name in the books after heading one more in the 13th minute. Brianna Uhl would find another in the 30th minute, this would be Selah Hopkins's third assist in the half. The Trojans would be held without a first half shot as they entered halftime trailing 4-0.
Despite rain in the second half adding challenges for the speed of play, the Trojans would crack the scoreboard as Payton Siragusa would put a shot away to give TIU their first goal in the 53rd minute. However, TIU would not be able to get back into the match as Caitlin Bergsma would put TCC's fifth and final goal in the nets in the 69th minute, moving the Trolls to 6-0 in conference play, handing the Trojans the 5-1 loss.Â
