MILWAUKEE, Wisc. --- The TIU women's volleyball team visited southern Wisconsin on Thursday night as they took on the Cardinal Stritch Wolves in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Coming off an impressive 3-0 home win over IU-South Bend on Tuesday, the Trojans looked to continue their strong play as they begin the final four matches of the regular season.
Both Trinity and Cardinal Stritch brought the intensity as both teams refused to give much competitive advantage to either in a back-and-forth contest. TIU forced nine attack errors in the first set and notched 13 kills en route to a narrow 27-25 win in the opening set. However it would be all Wolves from there on out as CSU took control in heavily defending the net and forcing the Trojans into seven total receiving errors.
After Stritch took the second set by a score of 25-20, CSU put together another impressive performance in the third, scoring three straight points after facing a TIU set point at 25-24 to take the 27-25 win. The Wolves ability to contain Trinity's attackers and block relentlessly would be a deciding factor as CSU took the fourth set 27-25, and the 3-1 loss.
Madeline Decker led the Trojans with 15 kills in the loss, while Grace Mauersberger notched ten kills. Anna Skrzyphak recorded 40 assists, with Brianna Torres notching a team-high 16 digs and Madeline Trippett recorded 15 digs.
