WHEELING, Ill. --- The TIU Trojans returned home on Wednesday night as they hosted the Roosevelt University Lakers in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play at the Heritage Park Sports Complex. Coming off a tough loss at Saint Ambrose last weekend, the Trojans looked to rebound against a formidable Laker team.

After struggling to get shots on goal last match, TIU struggled again with just seven total shot attempts and two on goal. While Trinity stayed out of foul trouble largely all match, Roosevelt struck first with an unassisted goal by Ashley Capetillo in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Just over a minute into the second half, Julia Szylke scored the Laker's second goal of the night, assisted by Anahi Cerda. Not seeing any corner kicks in the game, the Trojans struggled to set up their offensive attack and played much of the game on defense, allowing for the Lakers to hand TIU the 2-0 loss.

ADDITIONAL GAME NOTES

• Roosevelt's win over the Trojans on Wednesday night was the just the second time the Lakers defeated TIU, and the first time since Oct. 12, 2016.

• 2020-21 is the first season of the new Roosevelt women's soccer program, coming after its merger with the Robert Morris University (IL) Eagles last summer.

• Neither goalkeeper saw many shots come their way. TIU's Sarah Davis saw just four shots on goal (two of which scored for goals), while Roosevelt's Alyssa Darling saw just two shots taken on goal.

• Lauren Henn and Payton Siragusa took Trinity's only two shots on goal in the loss.

• The Lakers committed 11 fouls in the match, while TIU committed just five.

The Trojans (1-2-0) will return to action on Tuesday, March 9 as they visiting the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University in conference play. Kick off is scheduled for 2:00pm CT at the Bavarian Soccer Complex in Milwaukee, and can be watched online LIVE on the Wolves Sports Network.
