Trojans struggle in loss at Stritch

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. --- The TIU women's soccer team traveled to southern Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon as they battled the Cardinal Stritch Wolves in CCAC play. The Trojans coming off a 2-0 loss to Roosevelt earlier this week has the Trojans trying to get back to a .500 record. 

The Wolves would strike early in the match as Mia Bedarf would give CSU the early lead in the fifth minute. Bedarf would tack on another goal just two minutes later to put Stritch up 2-0. Jenny Nagle would add a third for the Wolves in the 14th minute to put Trinity in a difficult deficit early. The half would end with CSU getting one more goal on behalf of Marisol Kroencke to lead 4-0. 

TIU struggled to get the shots they wanted on offense, while Cardinal Stritch thrived offensively. The second half would be similar to the first as the Wolves got another goal past Trojan goalkeeper Sarah Davis in the 53rd minute, and another by Kroencke in the 60th. Julia Von Der Horst would put the Wolves seventh and final goal in the back of the net in the 85th minute to stamp her name in the books, and hand Trinity the difficult 7-0 loss.

ADDITIONAL GAME NOTES

  • TIU falls to 6-11 all-time against Cardinal Stritch with today's loss. The Trojans have now lost four straight to the Wolves.

  • Today's loss marks the third consecutive match where TIU has failed to score a goal. Trinity's last goal came from Cameron Hunter late in the season opener at Saint Ambrose.

  • The Trojans were outshot 17-4 by the Wolves, and 11-1 for shots on goal in the loss.

  • Shane Busick took three of TIU's four shots in the loss.

  • Trinity's seven goals allowed were the most given up since allowing seven goals against Robert Morris (IL) back on Oct. 5, 2011 in a 7-1 loss in Arlington Heights.

The Trojans (1-3-0) will return to action on Saturday, March 13 as they host the Cougars of Saint Xavier University in conference play. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00pm CT at the Waukegan Sports Park in Waukegan, and can be watched online LIVE on the Trojan Sports Network.
