BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The TIU women's soccer team returned to Schartner Field on a windy Tuesday afternoon as they welcomed the Redhawks of Indiana University Northwest to town in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Coming off a 5-3 win over Saint Xavier on Saturday in their home and conference opener, the Trojans looked to pick up their second win in league play, and their fifth consecutive victory.
In just the second meeting all-time against IU-Northwest, the Trojans would dominate from start to finish. Reigning CCAC Offensive Player of the Week Abigail Olsson got things started for the blue and white in just the fourth minute of play on a breakaway pass to put TIU ahead 1-0. Elizabeth Bayert would net her first career goal in the 16th minute, and would not be done as she scored again just two minutes and 39 seconds later on an assist by Olsson to put Trinity ahead 3-0.
Off the bench, Kinsey Gomez etched her name in the scorebook on a goal with an assist from Bayert in the 30th minute, while Olsson notched her second straight multi-goal match on an unassisted score in the 39th minute as TIU took a commanding 5-0 lead into halftime.
Trinity, who overwhelmingly dominated possession of the ball all afternoon, struck again as Bayert scored her third goal of the day for her first career hat trick. The Redhawks would get one back in the 61st as Mackenzie Rainwater put IU-Northwest on the board to avoid the shutout on a shot just past TIU goalkeeper Sarah Davis' reach. Despite the Redhawk goal, Trinity didn't flinch as Gomez again score unassisted in the 81st, while Olsson capped the afternoon off on a bad IU-Northwest pass in the 82nd minute with her third goal of the day and her second consecutive hat trick, as TIU rolled past the Redhawks, 8-1.
