SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- The TIU women's volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday night as they visited the Titans of Indiana University-South Bend in central Indiana in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Riding one of the longest winning streaks in program history, the Trojans looked to continue their recent run against one of the top teams in the league.
In this top four conference matchup, the Titans came to play in virtually every facet of offense. After a narrow start to the opening set, IU-South Bend used a 6-0 run to jump ahead and ultimately take the set 25-21. While both teams were able to put on impressive showings in their service games, the Titans took advantage of Trinity's errors. IU-South Bend again used a big run of seven straight points in the second set after a close start to take the second frame 25-13.Â
In the third, TIU would struggle with seven errors while their opponents racked up 14 kills as a team with only three errors. In a night where the Titans also dominated at the net in the blocking game, IU-South Bend dominated the evening, closing out the third set with a 25-18 win to snap Trinity's winning streak, and send the Trojans home with a 3-0 loss.
Brianna Torres would end the night with a team-high eight kills in the loss, plus one block assist. Junior Anna Skrzypchak notched 20 assists and 11 digs in the match, while Jaylyn Freeman recorded a team-best 12 digs. Four additional Trojans would each record one block assist in Matty Hawkins, Madison Williams, Madison Feagans, and Nadia Wheeler.
