COSTA MESA, Calif. --- Coming off their first win of the 2021 season, the TIU women's soccer team headed west to kickoff a two-match road trip in southern California on Saturday, beginning the Labor Day weekend against the Hawks of San Diego Christian. Looking to build off of Tuesday's win at Viterbo, the Trojans were eager to continue their stellar play early in the season.
For the third straight match this season, the Trojans went scoreless in the first half. That all changed just two minutes into the second half as Emily Soriaga put Trinity on the board on an assist from sophomore Zoe Villont.Â
16 minutes later, Abigail Olsson doubled the TIU lead on a penalty kick for a score following a SDCC foul late in the 62nd minute. Defender Kinsey Gomez got in on the action just five minutes later in the 68th minute, putting the Trojans up 3-0 on an assist from Olsson. Sophomore forward Payton Siragusa would put the final touches on an outstanding second half for Trinity in the 76th minute with Olsson recording her second assist, as the Trojans rolled to the 4-0 shutout win.
