Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second half push not enough, Trojans drop to Lynx at home

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- Last night the Trojans were back at home again for their first game of 2022 against the Lynx of Lincoln College. Despite their dominance in the paint, the Trojans couldn't match the Lynx outside the perimeter and dropped the game 83-96

Both teams started off strong with a couple of 3-pointers before Lincoln quickly took the lead with a 16-6 run. The remainder of the half, the Trojans would struggle guarding the Lynx around the perimeter and their lead grew to finish the half 49-31. Freshman Kyonte Thomas led the Trojans in the first half, putting up six points and five rebounds with Diamond Presniakovas adding six points of his own.

Looking to close the gap, the Trojans came out of the break with a couple of layups from Leon Williams, who would go on to notch his second highest scoring game of the season. Shooting over 60%, the Trojans were able to rally on the scoreboard while holding back the continued Lynx offensive pressure by controlling the game beneath their net  and not allowing a single offensive rebound by Lincoln in the second half.

With less than 12 minutes remaining, the Trojans turned up the heat and went on a 26-12 run, including an explosive dunk by Leon Williams. Despite narrowing the score gap to single digits, the Trojans couldn't close it any farther after both Williams and Jaden Thomas fouled out in the final minutes as the Lynx added to their score with multiple trips to the free throw line.
