BANNOCKBURN, ILL. --- The Trojans were at home again tonight for another CCAC match-up, this time against the Jaguars of Governors State University. A tight game throughout the first quarters, the Jaguars turned up the heat in the third quarter with a lead that Trinity was unable to overcome, losing the game 49-60.
Trinity began the first quarter on a strong note with a 10-2 run before the Jaguars added a few buckets of their own. With less than three minutes left, Taylor Hibicke stole the ball and countered with a layup giving the Trojans a six point lead. A few free throws by the Jaguars ended the first quarter with the Trojans leading 12-20.
Start of the second quarter Governors State came out strong and closed the gap to four points before a couple of layups by Saskia Stegbauer increased the Trojan lead again. At the three minute mark, the Jaguars dropped a 3-pointer to take the lead and held it into the break, 35-34.
Third quarter opened with traded layups, before Governors State lengthened their lead with a couple of free throws followed by a 3-pointer. Trinity struggled to hold onto the ball giving up consecutive turnovers while the Jaguars continued to drop points, finishing the third quarter with a 14 point lead.
Led by Alina Jahnke, the Trojans started with a 3-pointer by the senior from Borkum, Germany closing the gap to single digits. Jahnke continued to add to the score, dropping Trinity's first 11 points of the final quarter. Carly Scheblo followed with a layup, but the Trojans were unable to keep the offensive pressure. Governors State, despite being held to 25% shooting accuracy, maintained their defensive efforts and their lead held as the final whistle blew.

- This afternoon's matchup was the 7th meeting between Trinity and Governors State. Today's result brings the Trojans to 6-11 overall and 2-10 in the CCAC

- Alina Jahnke led the Trojans with 20 points and 7 rebounds, her second highest scoring game of the season
- Taylor Hibicke secured 10 rebounds, her third highest total of the season
