Point Lookout, Mo. — After claiming the NCCAA National Championship last Saturday, members of TIU women's volleyball were given further recognition from the NCCAA as the organization announced their final slate of Division 1 Women's Volleyball awards.
Three Trojans were named to the All-Tournament Team: Jaylyn Freeman, Brianna Torres and Lana Vujosevic.
Freeman notched 112 digs over the five matches to average seven per set. She earned a career high 34 digs in the opening game against Mid-America Christian University.
Torres slammed 67 kills and grabbed 62 digs throughout the tournament, averaging 4 kills/set and 3.785 digs/set. Her tournament highs consisted of 20-kills against MACU and 18-digs against Columbia International.
Vujosevic averaged a double-double each match, with her best performances as 19 kills against CIU and 23 digs in the opener against MACU.
Torres was named Most Outstanding Tournament Player and First Team All-American, the first honors of her career in those categories.
Head coach Luke Ward was named Coach of the Year after leading the Trojans to the program's best overall record (30-9) in almost two decades and their first NCCAA National Championship.
