Torres adds NAIA All-American to resume

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Grad student and outside hitter Brianna Torres was named an NAIA Third Team All-American for the TIU women's volleyball program earlier this morning when the final slate of awards were announced by the national office. The honor is the first of Torres' career and the perfect crown to a phenomenal season.

Torres is the first TIU women's volleyball player to claim the honor since alum Danielle Gisler in 2006, who was also selected for the Third Team. Gisler was the first to do so in program history, making Torres the second.

Competing in all 143 sets of Trinity's matches this season across 39 matches, Torres led TIU with 584 kills (third highest in TIU history, single season), averaging 4.08 per set (second highest in TIU history, single season). Torres placed second on the squad with 431 digs and fourth in service aces, handing out 33 of them.

Earlier this season, Torres was named AVCA All-Region, CSC Academic All-District, NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, CCAC Attacker of the Week, NCCAA Attacker of the Week, CCAC All-Conference, CCAC Player of the Year, NCCAA Most Outstanding Tournament Players and most recently, National Champion.

The star Trojan forward adds NAIA All-American to an already star-studded resume which includes other such accolades as CCAC First Team All-Conference (4x), NCCAA All-Region (3x), CCAC Attacker of the Week (4x), NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week (4x), AVCA All-Region (3x), NCCAA Most Outstanding Tournament Player, and CCAC Player of the Year.

With the conclusion of her career, Torres cements her name in TIU women's history in a multitude of places:
