Trojans continue win streak after defeating the Red Lions in doubleheader

LINCOLN, Ill.. --- After a couple of canceled games due to weather, the Trojans topped off their spring break tour back in Illinois as they faced the Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University in a doubleheader yesterday afternoon. Continuing the win streak they began the previous weekend, the Trojans took both results from the Lions winning the first game 11-0 in six innings and the second game 12-3 in seven.

Game One:
Lead off batter and last week's CCAC Player of the Week, Blake Lazaris homered on the Trojans first at bat to get an early lead over the Red Lions and followed it up with solid defense after two fly outs then a strikeout by Dominik Olech. Top of the second, Trinity scored two more runs to bring their lead to 3-0 before the next two innings slowed down with just two hits.

Getting the offense started again, Ethan Oskroba singled at the top of the fifth followed by another from Seth Lewallen. Up next in the lineup, Riley Edington was walked before Luis Henriquez stepped up to the plate and hit a triple to right field, bringing the three Trojans back to the dugout. The hits kept coming for Trinity as they totaled five for the inning, including another triple but this time by Blake Lazaris.

Entering the sixth inning with a nine run lead, the Trojans weren't finished yet and added a home run by Oskroba to score two more. Trinity ended the first game with 10 hits and 11 RBI. Dominik Olech was credited with the win from the mound after five innings pitched and eight strikeouts.

Game Two:
Up to the plate again first for the Trojans, Blake Lazaris led off with another home run before solid defense by the Trojans put out the first three batters for the Red Lions. Starting the second inning with a walk, Andrew Johnson swung second and doubled to left center, followed by a triple from Luis Henriquez to score another run. Blake Bruce stepped up to the plate next and singled to left field, bringing Henriquez home and giving the Trojans a 3-0 lead.

Trinity rallied again in the fourth inning with three hits and four runs scored to increase their lead to 7-0 while remaining strong on the diamond, ending the fourth inning with a double play. Another two runs scored by the Trojans in the sixth inning brought the score to 9-1 after Lincoln was able to capitalize on pitching errors.

In the final inning, Trinity earned an additional three runs with hits by Jose Matos, Andrew Johnson and Luis Henriquez. Lincoln Christian gave one last offensive push and scored two, but the Trojans would sweep the doubleheader with a final score of 12-3.
