ELGIN, Ill. --- Yesterday afternoon the Trojans traveled to Elgin for a doubleheader match-up against the Eagles of Judson University after inclement weather altered game time and location. Trinity got off to a strong start in the first game, but unfortunately wouldn't be able to hold on as they dropped the first game in extra innings, 7-11; though the Trojans struck first in the second game, they were unable to match the Eagles offense and dropped the second game as well, 7-4.

Game One:
Five hits and three Eagle errors gave the Trojans an early lead in the second inning as they went up 6-0 on the scoreboard and forced a pitching change. The Eagles tried to answer in the third inning but only took back one after a sacrifice bunt.
Throughout the next two innings, both teams were dormant offensively and entering the bottom of the fifth inning the score was still 6-1 with the Trojans leading. A sacrifice fly by Blake Lazaris gave Trinity another run and the score held at 7-1 until the top of the seventh inning.
The Eagles offense let loose and scored three runs off of four hits to start the seventh inning, then added two more in the top of the eighth to bring the score within one run, Trinity still leading 7-6. Judson scored one more in the ninth and tied the game to force extra innings. Two more scoreless innings brought the game to the top of the eleventh inning where the Eagles continued their rally and scored four more runs. Trinity was unable to answer in their next at bat and the game ended 7-11.

Game Two:
Lead off hitter Blake Lazaris crossed home plate to give the Trojans a go ahead run in the first inning. The Eagles responded quickly with three runs in the bottom of the second after a couple of Trojan errors. At the top of the second, Trinity had bases loaded when Seth Lewallen was hit by the pitch to bring a run home and shorten the score gap, 3-2 with the Eagles leading. Unable to further capitalize on the situation, Trinity grounded out and the inning ended.
Judson added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, then another two in the fifth to bring their lead to 7-2. The Trojans tried to climb their way back after a double by Popovich got the freshman on base before another hit by Lazaris brought him home. Trinity's defense held strong, but in the final inning their three hit rally fell short of tying the game and they lost 7-4.
