ELGIN, Ill. --- This weekend the Trojans faced the Lakers of Roosevelt University in a three-game series as they continued their stretch of CCAC opponents. Trinity was unable to sustain any momentum despite generating offense in pockets of each game. They dropped the series to Roosevelt 0-3.
 
Game One: TIU 0, Roosevelt 5
It was three up and three down for the Trojans in their first two at bats as Roosevelt took an early lead 0-4 after two innings. The Lakers pitcher would go on to throw a complete game as TIU continued to struggle at the plate against the hurler. Blake Lazaris and Seth Lewallen would nab Trinity's two hits of the game.

Game Two: TIU 8, Roosevelt 18
The Trojans looked to bounce back quickly with a dominant second inning as they blasted five hits and scored eight runs. With their first two at bats thrown out, Trinity rallied at the plate after a hit by pitch followed a Lakers error to set up two Trojans on base. Jackson Shutzenhofer, Luiz Henriquez and Jose Matos hit back to back to back singles before Blake Lazaris tripled and gave the Trojans a 5-0 lead. Capitalizing on Roosevelt mistakes, the Trojans secured an eight run lead when the second inning ended.

A quick hit back, the Lakers scored two in the bottom of the second and cut the Trojan's lead. In the bottom of the third, Roosevelt continued their offensive rally and scored ten runs off of nine hits and two Trinity errors to take the lead 8-12. 

Trinity nabbed three hits in the top of the fifth but was unable to bring any of their baserunners across the plate. In the final four innings, Roosevelt added six more runs and swept the doubleheader 8-18.

Game Three: TIU 4, Roosevelt 6
Struggling from the mound, Roosevelt gave up multiple pitching errors to advance the Trojans and give them a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the second inning. Trinity held the lead until the bottom of the seventh when the Lakers drew momentum from a couple of fielding errors and took the lead 5-2. TIU answered loudly with an out of the park home run by Ridley Edington to fire up the Trojan bench, but it was short-lived as they failed to create further offensive power at the plate. 

The Lakers added one more to the scoreboard at the top of the ninth to give them a three run lead before the Trojans last at bat to take victory or force extra innings. With two outs, the Trojans put Ethan Oskroba as pinch hitter at the plate and he immediately hit a double to spark their offense. Brady Popovich and Luis Henriquez followed with a single each to score one more. Too little too late, Roosevelt pitched the last out and secured the Trojans defeat, 4-6.

The Trojans(10-20, 3-13) host the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist tomorrow at Heritage Park Sports Complex. The non-conference doubleheader can be livestreamed on the Trojans Sports Network starting at 11:00am.
