Trojans split doubleheader against Tigers for first conference win

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Yesterday afternoon the Trojans saw Olivet Nazarene across the plate in their latest CCAC doubleheader. After a tough first game that ended early, Trinity bounced back and held off the Tigers offense to secure their first victory of the year.

Game One: TIU 1, Olivet Nazarene 12
The Trojans started the inning swinging with a double by Hailey Kuriger. Britney Knox walked next before a double play sent her and Paige Hintz back to the dugout. Gina Loy stepped up with a single to send Kuriger home for the first run of the game. From there, the Tigers took the reins and Trinity would struggle to generate any further offense against the junior hurler who would throw a complete game.

Game Two: TIU 4, Olivet Nazarene 3
Olivet struck first in the bottom of the third inning after a solo home run. Their lead would hold until the top of the fifth inning when Trinity's offense started firing with four hits to score two runs and take the lead. Waverly Miller nabbed her first career triple to score the Trojan's first run before Meghan Ramseyer followed with a single to send Miller all the way home.

In their next at bat, the Tigers scored two more after a wild pitch and a Trojan error to retake the lead, 2-3. The score held until the top of the seventh when Trinity rallied with three hits and two runs. Madison Lenzke started things off with a single to center field. A Tiger error allowed Waverly Miller to get on base before two singles by Hailey Kuriger and Britney Knox both hit singles to drive home both Lenzke and Miller.

With a 4-3 lead into the final inning, Trinity's defense held strong with solid pitching by Morgan Paaske and team fielding.
