CHICAGO, Ill. --- After a weekend break, the Trojans traveled to the nationally ranked Saint Xavier University for their latest Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. Despite an early lead in the first game, Trinity dropped the doubleheader to the Cougars.
 
Game One: TIU 4, Saint Xavier 12
The Trojans scored two runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Gina Loy cracked a double to left center for a single RBI followed by Brooke Heraty with a sacrifice fly for another RBI and run scored. Trinity held the Cougars scoreless in the bottom of the first.

It was three up and three down for the Trojans at the top of the second before Saint Xavier added two runs to the board and tied the score.

Retaking the lead in the top of the fourth inning, Trinity scored two more runs. Jacqueline Kamery stepped up to the plate with a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners before the Trojans capitalized on two Cougar fielding errors to score.

Defensively, the Trojans struggled in the bottom of the fourth as the Cougars landed five hits and scored seven runs, taking the final lead of the game 4-9.

Trinity failed to rally at the plate in the top of the fifth and after Saint Xavier scored three more in the bottom of the fifth, the game was called finished. The Trojans lost 4-12.
 
Game Two: TIU 1, Saint Xavier 9
After two scoreless innings, the Cougars opened scoring in the bottom of the third inning after converting on a couple hits and a Trojan error.

Trinity answered quickly in the top of the fourth inning when Britney Knox led off with a double, followed by a single down the right field line by Josie Nelson that created an opportunity for Knox to score.

Saint Xavier started swinging and nabbed six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored seven runs, increasing their lead to 1-8.

The Cougars collected their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, ending the game in six innings and defeating the Trojans 1-9.

The Trojans (2-17, 2-12) take the field again on Friday afternoon at Heritage Park Sports Complex for another CCAC matchup against the Lakers of Roosevelt University.
