Another conference sweep takes Trojans to 14-4 record

GARY, Ind. --- Last night the Trojans traveled to Indiana for their latest conference match-up against the Redhawks of Indiana University Northwest.

TIU took off to a quick lead, going up 8-2 before the Redhawks were able to score consecutive points. Showing a bit of fight, IU Northwest began to push back and close the game with consecutive kills, bringing the score to 13-11, Trinity still leading. Leading the Trojan attack, Brianna Torres landed another kill followed by Madison Williams to widen the gap again, paired with multiple Redhawks errors. With the Trojans ahead 20-14, the Redhawks took advantage of a couple of errors by Trinity to narrow the gap to just four points. IU Northwest would not go down easy, as they fought back, matching the Trojans two points to one in the final moments of the game before a final kill by Torres landed the set point.

Set two saw the Tojans get off to a rough start, succumbing to two errors while the redhawks also notched a few points. With Emma Gallegos at the service position, the Trojans tied the game and retook a short lived lead before the Redhawks tied it again. Another slew of errors by Trinity propelled the Redhawks forward until they fell to oneof their own and Vujosevic took over serving with an ace followed by a kill from Halsie Keltner to once again tie the match, 12-12. Both sides traded points across the net for another close game until Trinity sealed victory by capitalizing on further Redhawks errors and another kill by Wiliams.

In the final set, the Trojans locked in and took an early lead 4-1 with kills by Keltner, Torres, and Vujosevic. After capitalizing on further mistakes by IU Northwest and another kill from Williams, the Trojans doubled their score 8-4. The Redhawks pushed back with some resolve, but the Trojans answered with a seven point run to take an 18-10 lead over the Redhawks. The remaining seven points would come easy as the Redhawks fell to multiple errors while the Trojans earned just two points from a Vujosevic service ace and Torres kill.

Anna Skrzypchak led the Trojans with 34 assists and had a season-high performance of 17 digs. Jaylyn Freeman led Trinity's defensive efforts with 22 digs, her second highest total of the season. Lana Vujosevic earned the Trojans lone double-double of the evening, notching 13 kills and 17 digs.
