BANNOCKBURN, Ill. — Last night Trinity continued their CCAC campaign against the number two seeded Indiana Northwest. Though three the Trojans landed double-digits in the scoring column, including
Hattie Black with her first career double-double, the Trojans were no match for the Redhawks as they fell 45-101.
Wrestling to get their offense in motion, the Trojans fell behind 1-14 in the first five minutes of the contest. Kaiya Albert got things rolling with a layup, followed by sophomore Audree Peck and a bucket from the perimeter. Freshman Jasmine Smith and senior Breleigh Gula each contributed a layup before Albert closed out the half with a pair of free throws.
Early in the second quarter the Trojans grabbed back another layup to shorten their deficit to 11 points, but that would be the closest they would come to the CCAC powerhouse for the remainder of the game. Starting the battle with just seven, the Trojan bench was whittled even lower with injury and foul trouble as the minutes waned on. Despite the Trojans' Herculean efforts and spirit, the Redhawks surged ahead with barely a glance over their shoulder.
Senior forward Breleigh Gula  alongside junior Kaiya Albert posted 13 points each for the Trojans, but it was senior Hattie Black who earned a moment of glory as she notched her first career double-double. Scoring 12 points and doubling any other player on the court with 12 rebounds, Black's impact on the Trojans' game was unmistakable.Â
With their third consecutive home game, the Trojans (3-21) return to Van Dixhorn Arena on Saturday afternoon to tip off with Indiana South Bend, the reigning number one seed in the CCAC. The game is slated to begin at 1:00pm.
