This Week
Coming up on the home stretch of the regular season, the Trinity International Trojans will look for their first series win this weekend, as they take on the Roosevelt Lakers for a three-game set. On Friday afternoon, Trinity will head to Schaumberg, Ill. before hosting the Lakers at the TIU Baseball Field for a doubleheader on Saturday. Live stats will be available for all three games, at TIUTrojans.com.

Quick Notes
• The Trojans picked up their fourth win of the season on Monday, with a 4-2 victory over St. Francis. A.J. Bruner earned his third win of the season with a complete game against the Saints.
• Roosevelt swept Calumet St. Joseph in a doubleheader in their last outing, taking 5-0 and 9-7 decisions on Tuesday.
• The Lakers are sitting 4th in the CCAC North Division with a 9-12 record. Trinity currently are 6th in the North Division, with a 3-19 mark in conference play.
• Sophmore Adam Gomski has led the Trojans with a .366 batting average, along with a team-high 41 hits and 48 total bases.
A.J. Bruner holds a 5.51 ERA through a team-leading nine starts, with a 3-4 record. The junior's three victories matches his previous season high, when Bruner posted a 3-4 mark during his freshman season in 2012.

Last Time Out
The Trojans split a doubleheader with St. Francis earlier this week, defeating the Saints 4-2 in game one, then dropping the second matchup 9-6. A two-out, three-RBI double from third baseman Adam Gomski proved to be the difference for the Trojans in game one. Starting pitcher A.J. Bruner threw a gem, pitching a complete game without giving up an earned run on the day.

In the second game of the day, St. Francis jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the 2nd, and three more in the 4th, to claim a 7-1 advantage. Trinity chipped away at the deficit in the second half of the game, starting with a run scored by Adam Vignola in the bottom of the 4th, as Andrew Grotelueschen reached on a fielding error. Jeff Lindberg and Cameron Stanley hit singles to lead off the bottom of the 7th, allowing Jon Debowey to pick up his second and third RBIs of the game with a two-out single through the left side, pulling the Trojans to within a run at 7-6. TIU had a chance to move in front in the 8th, loading the bases, but couldn't score. St. Francis then put the game away with two insurance runs in the top of the 9th to close the door.

Lindberg and Gomski had two hits apiece in both games, going 4-for-7 and 4-for-6, respectively. Debowey had the team's best single-game performance at the plate, hitting 4-for-5 in game two with 3 RBI. The Trojan bullpen looked solid again in Game 2, as Ben Hylander, Jeremiah Carter, Daniel Wawrzyniak, and Drake Maltry combined for just three hits and one earned run over the final five and two-thirds innings.

Scouting the Opponents

Jeremiah Carter pitched a complete game victory in game two, scattering two hits and not giving up an earned run in seven innings of work.
