Box Score
The Trojans (3-1) dominated on the defensive end, generating 31 turnovers, including a season-high 22 steals in the win.
Henry French led the way with four steals, while
Sean Smith and
T.J. Johnson each had three.
"Today's performance was a solid team effort on the road," said TIU head coach
Boomer Roberts after the win. "Emmaus played hard, but our size and depth took over in the second half. Sean was terrific again, and Zach [Kirschbaum], T.J., and Donald [Watkins] were 18-of-23 between them in the paint, which compliments our guards ability to make plays."
Kirschbaum led the Trojans for the third time this season, scoring 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Smith and
Grant Corsi each pitched in with 15 apiece, while Watkins came off the bench to score 13 while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the field.
Jeremy Carlyle finished with 11 points in the win.
The Eagles (1-2) tied the game with a three-pointer just 34 seconds into the game, answering Corsi's trey that opened the scoring for TIU. After Johnson's layup at the 18:34 mark started a 13-3 run, the Trojans would lead the rest of the way.
Trinity would take their largest lead of the night late in the second half, when Johnson's layup with 4:54 remaining would put the Trojans ahead by an even 40 points, 97-57.
Kirschbaum finished just shy of another double-double, collecting a team-high eight rebounds.
Greg Carlyle lead the team with five assists, as the team overall posted 23 assists. Seven different Trojans dealt out two or more assists in the win.
"I loved our 23 assists, and we got after it on the glass again," said Roberts. "We are now looking forward to getting a week to practice and get ready for two solid opponents at home next weekend."
Trinity will match up against Silver Lake (Wisc.) and Waldorf (Iowa) on Friday-Saturday, November 11-12, as part of the 2016 Trojan Classic.
