Quick Notes
 • The Trojans are home for three games this weekend, as Trinity International hosts the St. Ambrose Bees for a CCAC series beginning Friday afternoon.
 • Live stats and video will be available for both Friday's single game starting at 3:00 p.m., as well as both ends of Saturday's doubleheader that gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
 • With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Trinity sits 10th in the CCAC standings, with a 6-9-1 conference record. The Trojans are just one game behind the 8th and final spot for next month's CCAC Tournament.
 • Senior right fielder Jon Debowey has led TIU at the plate so far this season, hitting a team-high .389. Debowey also leads the team with a .648 slugging percentage, and has an on-base percentage of .446. He is one of three Trojans to hold an OBP over .440, along with Jon Grotelueschen (.454) and Adam Gomski (.449).
 • Senior A.J. Bruner is tied for the CCAC lead in wins, with a 7-4 record. Bruner has made a conference-high 11 starts and pitched 75.0 innings this year to lead the league, while posting a team-best 3.96 ERA.
• Shortstop Jeff Lindberg has reached base safely in the last 28 consecutive games, the longest streak for a TIU player this season. Adam Gomski held a 27-game streak from the end of 2015 to the first three games of this season's Florida swing.
• Senior Drake Maltry has a 4.89 ERA through 42.1 innings pitched this season, including a solid performance in his last start, at Judson on Mar. 26. Maltry worked around nine hits, allowing a pair of runs in a tough 2-1 loss to the Eagles.
 • Freshman pitcher Jiri Vavrusa has had a strong debut season in Deerfield, with a 4-1 record and 5.59 ERA through eight appearances. The Prague, Czech Republic rebounded from his first career loss at Olivet Nazarene on Apr. 2, to lower his ERA by more than a full run with a complete-game win at St. Francis; Vavrusa scattered seven hits without allowing an earned run in the Trojans' 9-1 victory over the Saints.
• Senior Jon Grotelueschen currently holds the team's longest hitting streak, at nine games, stretching back to Mar. 28. The center fielder has hit 15-for-39 (.385) during that stretch.
 • The Trojans have posted four saves out of the bullpen this season, with freshman Zachary Haning picking up three, in wins over Rochester (Mich.) on Mar. 10, St. Xavier on Mar. 19, and most recently at Purdue-Calumet on Mar. 29. Haning has pitched 12.0 innings with a 3.75 ERA, the lowest in the TIU bullpen.
 • The Trojans' 16 victories so far this season has already surpassed last season's win total, and is the most wins in a single season in five years, when TIU went 20-25 during the 2011 campaign.
Series vs. St. Ambrose     Â
 • The Trojans and Bees have met up seven times since the 2006 season, with St. Ambrose claiming wins in each contest.
 • Friday marks the first game for both sides as conference opponents, with St. Ambrose joining the CCAC for the 2015-16 season.
 • Trinity and St. Ambrose had met in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, during the Trojans' spring break trip in 2014 and 2015.
Last Time vs. SAUÂ Â Â
 • Scoring five late runs to force extra innings, Trinity International came up just short in searching for their first win of the season, going 11 innings until a walk-off single for St. Ambrose (Iowa) closed the door en route to a doubleheader sweep over the Trojans, 6-5 in game one, and 6-3 in game two on Mar. 9, 2015.
 • Foerch and Gomski finished with three hits apiece in game one, as five different Trojans picked up RBIs. Daniel Wawrzyniak pitched eight innings in his season debut, striking out seven and giving up the five early runs.
 • Debowey finished 2-for-3 in the second game, with a run and an RBI to lead the offense. Drake Maltry got his first career start on the mound for TIU, throwing six inning and allowing four earned runs while striking out three.
Player of the Week  Â
 • Shortstop Jeff Lindberg was recognized for the first career time, earning the CCAC Player of the Week award on Mar. 29.
 • Over four games last week, Lindberg hit for a .643 average, as the Trojans went 2-2 in a pair of doubleheaders against Indiana-South Bend and Judson. The junior had two or more base hits in three games, including a career-high four hits in Trinity's 15-7 win over the Titans on Mar. 23.
 • Senior pitcher A.J. Bruner was selected as the CCAC Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 16, earning the league's first weekly award of the season. Bruner was also named the NCCAA National Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career.
 • The Evansville, Ind. native threw two seven-inning complete games, leading the Trojans to victories over Penn State-Beaver and Rochester (Mich.). In his two outings, Bruner allowed just one earned run for a 0.64 ERA, striking out 10 batters while walking two.
Conference Leaders  Â
 • The Trojans hold the third-highest batting average in the CCAC this season, hitting at a .313 clip as a team. Trinity also ranks third in the league in slugging percentage, at .401, and fourth in on-base percentage, at .386.
 • On the mound, TIU ranks 9th in the CCAC with a 5.63 ERA, and has 152 strikeouts, good for 10th in the league.
Last Time Out     Â
 • A complete game victory for freshman pitcher Jiri Vavrusa, with the middle of the Trinity International lineup delivering at the plate, highlighted a doubleheader split for the Trojans against the St. Francis Saints on Tuesday afternoon. Trinity earned a 9-1 win over the home team in the first matchup of the day, before dropping the nightcap 8-4.
 • The Trojans led wire-to-wire in game one, beginning when pinch runner Scott Krawiec scored on a wild pickoff attempt. Senior catcher Adam Vignola broke the game wide open in the top of the 5th, slapping a two-out single with the bases loaded to drive home three runs and give Trinity a 6-0 advantage. Right fielder Jon Debowey cranked his fifth home run of the year, and his second in as many games, a three-run shot that put TIU ahead for good, 9-1.
 • In the second game of the day, the Saints jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a two-out rally in the bottom of the 2nd, before the Trojans put together a rally in their next trip to the plate. The first four Trojans reached base in the top of the 3rd, with one run scoring on a throwing error and another on Vignola's RBI single. A.J. Bruner then drove in two more runs with a single to right, scoring Vignola and Jeff Lindberg for a 4-3 lead. St. Francis would go on to score a run in the 3rd and 4th innings en route to five unanswered runs, while the Trojans were kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way.Â
Trojans in the Polls   Â
 • TIU Baseball appeared in the Mar. 16 edition of the NCCAA National Rankings, earning the No. 10 spot in the poll.
 • The ranking was the Trojans' first appearance in the NCCAA poll since 2010. Trinity reached as high as No. 4 in the national rankings on Mar. 30, 2010, after starting the season 15-8.
 • The Trojans are have yet to earn a spot in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, dating back to the poll's debut in 1998.
TIU Baseball History     Â
 • Since 2006, Trinity Baseball has an all-time record of 187-282-1 (.399). The Trojans have two winning seasons during that span, in 2007 (28-20) and in 2010 (30-23).
 • Trinity's last appearance in the CCAC Tournament came in 2011, when the Trojans reached the CCAC Championship game, ultimately falling to St. Francis.
 • The Trojans made three straight appearances in the NCCAA Tournament from 2005-07, their last appearances in the national tourney.
