 • Trinity International opens the CCAC schedule Thursday night, when they welcome the Robert Morris Eagles to Van Dixhorn Arena.

Quick Notes    

 • The Trojans will look to end a two-game slide, after losses to Bethel (Ind.) and Lake Forest (Ill.) in their last two outings.
 • With their next win, Trinity will surpass last yearís record of 3-21.
 • Freshman hitter Ashlyn Spay continues to lead the offense, averaging a team-high 2.60 kills per set. Junior Alida Knudton leads the Trojans with a .237 hitting percentage, along with 1.37 kills per set.
 • Defensively, three Trojans are averaging over two digs per set, led by Becca Kowalczuk. The junior ranks 7th in the CCAC with an average of 3.97 digs per set.
 • Freshman Kayla Jacks is averaging an even seven assists per set, and is tied for 5th in the CCAC in assists. Jacks ranks 2nd in the league in total assists, with 217.
 • Trinity is 3-6 in conference openers since 2007, with their last win to begin CCAC play coming in 2014, with a straight-set victory over Robert Morris at home.
 • TIU Volleyball was one of four programs from Trinity International to be selected as an NAIA Scholar-Team. To earn the NAIA Scholar-Team Award, all varsity student-athletes must have an average cumulative GPA above 3.00. The volleyball Trojans led the way, posting a department-high 3.34 average GPA.
 • Last season saw a program-record six student-athletes earn CCAC All-Academic honors. Marissa Boelter, Alida Knudtson, Becca Kowalczuk, Mickayla Staal, and Karlijn Van Gaalen earned the award for the first time, while 2015 senior Suzanne Knudtson was a two-time honoree.

Last Time vs. RMU

 • Robert Morris swept the season series last year, taking both matchups in three sets.
 • Sophomore Marissa Boelter came close to a double-double in the first match of the season, but Trinity International came up short on Sept. 10, 2015, falling to the host Eagles, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19. 
• In the rematch at Van Dixhorn Arena later that year, the Trojans suffered a straight-set loss on Oct. 15, 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.

Trojan Volleyball History

 • Since 2006, TIU Volleyball has an all-time record of 139-222 (.385).
 • Trinity has claimed two CCAC regular season championships (2004, 2006), and one CCAC Tournament title (2004).
 • The Trojans have made four appearances at the NCCAA National Championships, most recently in 2010. Trinity holds a 6-10 record in pool play in the national tournament, with their deepest run coming in 2005, falling to Bethel (Ind.) in the national semifinal.


Scouting the Opponents

Robert Morris

 • The Eagles are off to a 1-6 start in 2016, winning their season opener over William Penn (Iowa), but dropping the next six matches.
 • Junior Wendy Garcia ranks 8th in the CCAC, with an average of 3.91 digs per set.
 • Senior Jana Kunz is averaging 0.53 service aces per set, good for 9th in the CCAC.

Career Milestones

 • With 358 career kills, Mickayla Staal is the active team leader. Marissa Boelter has recorded the most career digs, with 514.
 • Becca Kowalczuk (2.90 digs per set) and Boelter (2.55) rank 8th and 9th respectively on TIUís career digs-per-set list (since 2007).

Up Next

 • The Trojans hit the road for a six-match trip beginning next Tuesday, September 13, when they take on Cardinal Stritch.
 • Trinity then will compete in the Clarke (Iowa) Tournament over the weekend, where they will face the host Crusaders, along with Waldorf (Iowa), Missouri Valley, and Valley City State (N.D.).
