Box Score ELGIN, Ill. - In a strong performance on Friday night, the TIU Volleyball team picked up their 4th CCAC victory of the season, defeating the Judson Eagles 3-1 to move to 14-16 on the 2017 season.

It was a strong performance right from the get go for TIU, with the Trojans taking the opening set 25-23. It was a back and forth game to open the match, but thanks to a five point Trojan run late in the set Trinity International was able to grab the lead and not look back. Deb Kovalczuk and Mickayla Staal each registered three kills in the opening set to pace the Trojans.

The Trojans picked right back up where they left off in the second set, battling back early after falling behind to the Eagles. Sam Brenneman and Madeline Decker led TIU offensively, while the Trojans took advantage of eight Eagle errors to take the lead and win the set.

The Eagles would eventually take the third set of the night 25-7, but yet again TIU showed their resiliency and came right back to win the fourth game 25-20 to seal the match. Decker and Staal again were standouts for TIU, pacing the Trojans with three kills each.

Decker would finish with a team high 9 kills, while Staal closed the match out with six. Defensively for TIU, Becca Kowalczuk chipped in 13 digs, anchoring the Trojan back row.

The Trojans will have the weekend off before returning home on Tuesday to take on the St. Ambrose Bee's at 7 pm.
