Box Score ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - It was a strong start for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday night, but Robert Morris rattled off wins in three consecutive sets to down TIU 3-1 (25-17,16-25,17-25.15-25) in CCAC Conference play.
The Trojans came out of the gate quickly to open the match. After the Eagles had taken an early 2-1 lead the Trojans put together three out of the next four points to take a 4-3 and they would not look back from there, cruising to a 25-17 opening set victory.
With a 7-4 lead in the second set, things seemed to be going the Trojans way, but Robert Morris put together 10 of the next 11 points to take an 11-8 lead. It was a clear turning point in the match that the Eagles took advantage of, eventually winning the set 25-16.
After dropping the second set, the Trojans could not seem to find their groove again, as the Eagles won the next two sets 25-17 and 25-15 to take the four-set victory.
Mickayla Staal had another strong performance for Trinity International, leading the Trojans with 10 kills.
Ashlyn Spay led the way for TIU defensively with 11 digs.
A busy weekend lies ahead for TIU as the Trojans travel to Davenport Iowa to compete in the CCAC Crossover Tournament.
