Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - In their final game inside the Van Dixhorn Arena in the 2017 season the TIU Volleyball team made sure to go out on a high note as the Trojans defeated Robert Morris 3-0 (25-22,25-8,25-19) on Senior Night.
It was all Trojans from the opening serve on Tuesday as Trinity quickly jumped out to a 13-7 and never looked back. Strong play from
Madeline Decker and
Deb Kovalczuk guided the Trojans to a 25-22 opening set victory.
In the second set of the match Senior's
Becca Kowalczuk and
Mickayla Staal led the way for the Trojans in a dominating 25-8 victory. Staal added two of her seven kills on the match to give the Trojans the early advantage, but it was Kowalczuk who closed things out. The Racine Wisconsin native rattled off 12 consecutive points from the service line to give the Trojans a 25-8 second set win.
The Trojans picked right back up where they left off in the third and final set of the night, cruising to a 25-19 win. Kovalczuk and Decker combined for nine kills on the set to pace the Trojans offensively.Â
Defensively, Kowalczuk had a match high 11 digs while teammates
Hannah Matthew and Kovalzcuk eached added 8 and 7 digs respectively.
The Trojans wrap up the regular season with a 16-19 (6-12 CCAC) overall record, their best since the 2010-11 season
