Volleyball drops both contests to open UM-Dearborn Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DEARBORN, Mich - Freshman Madeline Decker led Trinity International with six kills in both matches, but the Trojans would open the UM-Dearborn Invite with a pair of straight set losses to Xavier (La.) and #24 Madonna University on Friday evening.

Decker finished the opening match of the day with a team high six kills, but a slow start would put Xavier (La.) up early and they wouldn't look back from there. The Gold would take the first set 25-23, and eventually win the second and third sets 25-16. Becca Kowalczuk finished the afternoon with 18 digs, leading all players.

In the second match of the day the Trojans struggled against a strong Crusader attack as TIU fell to the #24 team in the country, Madonna University 19-25, 13-25, 14-25. Decker once again led the Trojans with a team high six kills, but her strong outing wouldn't be enough to push the Trojans to victory. Kowalczuk collected 23 digs on the match, leading the Trojans for the fourth consecutive match.

The Trojans will be back in action tomorrow as they finish with two more matches to wrap up the tournament, beginning with an 11 am. match against Spring Arbor University followed by a 2 pm. meeting with Williams Baptist.
