Box Score DAVENPORT, Iowa - In their second match of the week the TIU Volleyball team got off to a good start against CCAC leader St. Ambrose (8-7, 4-0 CCAC), but the Bee's rattled off three straight set victories to defeat the Trojans (10-7, 2-2 CCAC) on Thursday evening.
Trinity International quickly made their presence known on Thursday going toe to toe with one of the top teams in the CCAC. The Trojans fell behind to begin the opening set, but TIU would take advantage of six St. Ambrose errors to even the match midway through.
Ashlyn Spay continued to lead the Trojans offensively as the Sophomore contributed five her team high 12 kills to lead TIU to an opening set victory 25-21.
In the second set the Trojans looked to take a commanding two set lead, but the Bee's came out on top in a close battle to tie the match at a set a piece. With the score tied 20-20 late in the set, St. Ambrose was able to rattle off five of the next seven points to win the set 25-22.
With the match tied at one set each it was St. Ambrose who finished things off winning the third set 25-16, and the fourth set 25-19.
The Trojans will get the weekend off before stepping out of conference next Tuesday when they face Clarke University inside the Van Dixhorn Arena.
