CRESTWOOD, Ill. - In their opening games of the CCAC schedule the TIU Baseball team suffered a pair of defeats, losing to the Roosevelt Lakers, 11-6, and 12-1 at Standard Bank Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
In the opening game of the day the Trojans saw the Lakers put up five runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a commanding lead early on. The Trojans battled right back in the top of the 2nd inning, adding four runs of their own to pull themselves right back into the game. Thanks to a pair of bases loaded walks, and a
Matt Latimer RBI single, TIU pushed across four runs on four hits.
After adding a run in the 2nd, and 3rd inning the Lakers began to grab ahold of the game in the bottom of the 5th, tacking on four more runs to make it 11-6, putting the game well out of reach and sealing a game one victory.
Game two saw the Trojans struggle defensively in the field, making 5 errors, leading to four unearned runs. The Lakers capitalized on the Trojan fielding mistakes, putting up a dozen runs over 7 innings and handing the Trojans their second loss of the day.
Trinity International will look for their first win of the season when they hit the road for a weekend series against CCAC rival Judson University on Friday, and Saturday.
