Torres earns second NCCAA all-region team selection

TIU women's volleyball junior Brianna Torres has been selected to the National Christian College Athletic Association's (NCCAA) All-Region Team for the North-Central region, as announced by the regional chair. It is the second consecutive selection to the team for the outside hitter, who was also selected in 2019 in an honor voted on by head coaches in the region.

The Chula Vista, California native led TIU with 314 kills this past season, fourth most in the conference and became just the seventh Trojan to ever reach 1,000 career kills. Torres also led the league with 41 service aces.

This is the seventh season award for Torres, who finished the third year of her collegiate career during the COVID-19 shortened, and delayed 2020 season. Torres was also named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (CCAC) first team this season and in 2019, while taking home second team all-conference honors in 2018. She also earned NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition in 2019, and was also selected to the CCAC's all-academic team that year as well. Torres also was named the NCCAA's Student-Athlete of the Week earlier this season (February 15, 2021).

The Trojans finished the 2020-21 season with a final record of 17-9, and 13-4 mark in CCAC play to finish third in the league, their best conference finish since the 2006 CCAC regular season championship team, before falling to Cardinal Stritch in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinals.
