FAIRBORN, Ohio — Trinity was on the diamond again yesterday afternoon to wrap up their series with Wright State University Lake. Originally slated for another doubleheader, the two settled for a single nine inning game instead and the Lakers walked away victorious, defeating TIU 1-2.

WSU took a single run lead in the first inning then the game went quiet for four innings as both teams sharpened their defense and held the other scoreless. Christian Soria-Navarro recorded the only hit in that span, a pop fly single to left field.

The Lakers scored another run in the bottom of the sixth.

Trinity started connecting at the plate in the eighth inning, with Soria-Navarro collecting another single but this time to center field. Max Amendt placed a perfect sac bunt to advance Diego Lopez to second, who had come in for Soria-Navarro. Julius Torres added another hit to his season with a line drive to right field, sending Lopez across the plate. The Lakers defense held strong in the final inning to secure their victory.

Brady Popovich took the start for the Trojans and went for seven innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. Seth Lewallen came in for relief, adding another strikeout.

The Trojans(4-6) continue their spring break tour as they travel to Kodak, Tennessee to participate in the Smokies Showcase. They'll have a split doubleheader tomorrow afternoon against Johnson University and Alice Lloyd College, scheduled for 1:30 and 4:00pm eastern.
