• Trinity International prepares for the final home game of 2014, as the Trojans look to play spoiler when the 8th-ranked St. Xavier Cougars come to Leslie Frazier Field. TIU will also honor the team's six seniors as they play their final home game this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. and a webcast will be available at TIUtrojans.com/TIUSportsNetwork.

• Trinity International snapped a five-game slide last week, overcoming a 21-21 halftime score to defeat Trinity Bible (N.D.), 63-21.
• St. Xavier comes to Deerfield with a three-game win streak, coming off a 35-13 home victory over St. Ambrose last weekend.
• Quarterback Stephen Anderson is 2nd in the MSFA with 245.9 passing yards per game. Wideout Cory Windle continues to be one of his favorite targets, averaging 5.4 receptions per game, good for 10th in the MSFA.
• Trojan running back Chris Elliott set the all-time TIU rushing attempts mark against Grand View, and now has 577 carries in his career. His TD run against the Lions last week moves him into a tie for 3rd on TIU's all-time rushing TD list, with 28.
• With a win, TIU head coach Kirk Wherritt will move up to 3rd on TIU's all-time coaching wins list.
• SXU tops the MSFA with 38.6 points per game, while TIU comes in 3rd in the league, with 33.2 points per game.
Series History
• Saturday marks the 22nd time the Trojans and Cougars will do battle, making St. Xavier one of Trinity's oldest rivals. Only Olivet Nazarene (25 meetings) has played more games against TIU since the program's inception in 1989.
• The Cougars have won the last nine meetings, dating back to 2005. Trinity had won four of the first six games over SXU, but have won just twice since 1999.
• From 2006-2010, the Trojans scored only 12 points combined, over five games. Since then, TIU is averaging 20.0 points over the last three games, but have allowed over 35 points to the Cougars each time.
Last Time vs St. Xavier
• The Trojans struck first with a 32-yard touchdown reception from Cory Windle, but 27 unanswered first half points led to No. 23 St. Xavier taking a 37-20 home win over TIU on Nov. 9, 2013.
• TIU generated 420 yards of total offense, to the Cougars 426, but four turnovers proved costly for the Trojan attack.
• Sophomore running back Chris Elliott tallied 113 yards on 22 carries, with one touchdown. As a team, the Trojans compiled 203 rushing yards on the day.Â
• Quarterback Stephen Anderson completed 22 of 35 passes, for 217 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. The sophomore was also brought down for a season-high five sacks.
• Senior defensive lineman Sione Maka collected a team-high seven tackles, while Justin Hackley had the defense's lone interception.
About St. Xavier
• The Cougars come to Deerfield with a 6-2 record, and a 2-1 mark in the MSFA Midwest League.
• Earlier this season, SXU recorded a home win over NCAA Division II foe, Indianapolis, 19-14.
• St. Xavier leads the MSFA in scoring average, with 38.6 points per game, and are the best in the league at keeping drives alive, with an MSFA-best third-down conversion rate of 43.8%
• Sophomore quarterback John Rhode leads the MSFA with 278.6 passing yards per game. Two of his receivers, Nick DeBenedetti (7.1 rec./gm; 92.9 ypg) and Stephen Simms (5.9 rec./gm.; 78.2 ypg) rank in the top five in receptions and receiving yards
• Defensively, senior lineman Greg Hayward ranks 3rd in the NAIA in sacks per game (1.2), 4th in total tacks (9.5), 4th in tackles for loss (19), and 6th in forced fumbles per game (0.4).

Leslie Frazier Field
• TIU is 10-16 at home in the Wherritt era, and are 51-72-1 all-time at Frazier Field.
• Including the win Wisconsin Lutheran earlier this season, the Trojans are 15-9-1 all-time in home openers, and have won the first game of the year at Frazier Field the past five seasons.
• In Senior Day matchups (traditionally the final home game of the season) Trinity holds an all-time record of 8-16, with their last Senior day win coming in 2012, over Waldorf (Iowa).
Trojan Football History
• The Trinity International Trojan football program has an all-time record of 101-158-2 (.391), dating back to their first season as a varsity program in 1990.
• TIU's head coach for the inaugural season in 1989 through 1996 was Leslie Frazier. Frazier was a member of the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears, and is currently the defensive coordinator of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had a record of 38-37-3 while at TIU, and remains the winningest coach in Trinity International history.
• The Trojans have won three MSFA Midwest League titles in school history, in 1994, 1995, and 2003.
• Trinity International has earned two NAIA Football Championship Series berths, in 1994 and 2004. TIU is still searching for their first NAIA playoff victory, falling to Northwestern (Iowa) and Georgetown (Ky.), respectively.
• TIU has one appearance in the NCCAA Victory Bowl, where they fell to Garner-Webb (N.C.), 54-14, in 2001.
Trojan Attack
• The Trojans rank 3rd in the MSFA with an average of 33.2 points per game.
• The team averages 388.8 yards of total offense per game, good for 4th in the MSFA. They are the 5th-ranked rushing offense in the league, with 156.4 yards per game on the ground.
• Junior running back Chris Elliott ranks 3rd in the league, with 89.6 rushing yards per game. Quarterback Stephen Anderson currently sits 2nd in the MSFA, with 245.9 passing yards per game.
• Against Olivet Nazarene earlier this season, Elliott moved into second place on the all-time TIU rushing list. Through the Trojans' last game, Elliott now has 2,884 career rushing yards, and is just 388 yards shy of the all-time school record, held by Todd Johnson (1990-94).
• Elliott recorded his second career 1,000-yard season in 2013, becoming the first Trojan to ever reach the 1K mark twice in his TIU career.
• With two games remaining, Elliott needs 283 yards for a third 1,000-yard season.
• The Miami, Fla. native's career high came as a freshman in 2012, with an MSFA-record 346 yards in the final game of the year over Waldorf.
Record-Setting Performances
• Quarterback Stephen Anderson set a new single-game school record, throwing for seven touchdowns in the win over Wisconsin Lutheran. His 413 passing yards in the game is the second-highest total in school history, and is just the second time a Trojan QB has surpassed the 400-yard mark.
• Freshman kick returner Gary Tyler set a new TIU single-game record this year, against Robert Morris. The Winnetka, Calif. native averaged 39.4 yards per kick return, highlighted by his 100-yard return for a touchdown. Tyler ranks 15th in the NAIA with 470 total return yards this season.
• Against Grand View on Oct. 18, sophomore kicker Jeremiah Carter connected on the second-longest field goal in Trinity International history, splitting the uprights from 48 yards out, just one yard shy of the all-time record.
TIU Defense
• The Trojan defense has been one of the best in the nation at forcing turnovers this season, with an MSFA-high 15 interceptions, and a plus-2 turnover margin (4th in MSFA).
• TIU ranks 7th in the NAIA with 3.1 sacks per game, and 11th nationally with 25 total sacks this season.
• Linebacker Riley Schussler is 5th in the NAIA, with 12.1 tackles per game, and 6th in forced fumbles, with 0.4 per game. Shussler also ranks 9th nationally in passes defended per game, at 1.5.
• Sophomore Brad Badali (24th), and freshman Daniel Harris (38th) are both on the national leaderboard for interceptions, with four, and three picks, respectively.
TIU in the Polls
• The Trojans have gone unranked this season, after spending some time in the NAIA-AFCA Coaches Poll last year, earning a national ranking for three weeks of the season.
• The Trojans were ranked as high as No. 21 on Oct. 7, following their win over Olivet Nazarene.
• Before last season, Trinity's last ranking came in 2005 (No. 24, Sept. 19).
• TIU has been ranked 18 weeks in the program's history, and hold an all-time record of 14-11 (.560) as a nationally-ranked team.
• The Trojans are 7-43 (.140) all-time against ranked opponents, and 52-65 (.444) against unranked teams.
• When TIU is unranked, they are 48-107 (.310) since the poll's debut in 1999.
NCCAA Victory Bowl
• The top two teams in the NCCAA based on winning percentage will meet at the end of the season in Rome, Ga., for the 2014 Victory Bowl. Kickoff for the NCCAA's national championship game is set for Nov. 22.
• Trinity International has made one previous appearance at the Victory Bowl, in 2001. The Trojans fell to current NCAA Division I foe Gardner-Webb (N.C.), 54-14.
• The Trojans are currently 7th in the NCCAA standings, as Northwestern (Minn.) and Greenville (Ill.) top the league with identical 7-2 records.
Rescued with TIU Football
• The Trinity International football program has partnered with Bright Hope for a second year to raise $30,000 and rescue 10 girls trapped in sex trafficking in northern India.
• Last season, the Trojans helped raise over $14,000 and raised awareness for Bright Hope's Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative.
• Seven players spent their spring break last year traveling to northern India with Bright Hope, to minister at a safe house, while also raising awareness by speaking at local universities and churches.
