BANNOCKBURN, Ill. –– Three upperclassmen from the TIU football program have been selected for the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office yesterday morning. In order to qualify, a student-athlete must be a sophomore in academic standing and have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average. Across the association, over 350 students were selected for the recognition.
Representing Trinity International,
Cameron Outlaw,
Logan Shears, and
Kemon Reese were named All-Academic Team members.
Outlaw, a graduate student pursuing a masters of leadership, garners his first All-Academic selection. The kicker/punter received his undergraduate degree at Trinity in Business and holds a number of TIU football single season and career records.
Shears, a junior, adds to his growing list of accolades for his excellence in the classroom with this latest designation. Last fall the linebacker was also named NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, as well as was selected for the CSC Academic All-District Team. He was also selected for the All-Academic Team for the 2021 season.
Reese, a senior psychology major, receives his third All-Academic nod after previously being chosen for the 2020 and 2021 honor roll. The linebacker most notably earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in 2020, as well as multiple MSFA Midwest League honors throughout his career.
