Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- Freshman
Alyssa Doomis continued her streak of reaching base in each game this season, but the Trinity International offense struggled Tuesday morning, falling to the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) Trojans, 6-1, and the St. Francis (Ind.) Cougars, 11-0, at the National Training Center as part of the Dot Richardson Spring Games.
The Trojans out-hit Hannibal-LaGrange, 7-4, but left six runners on base in game one. HLGU jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a run in the top of the 1st, and two more added on in the 3rd. TIU got on the board with a run in the 6th, when
Valerie D'Ambrosio led the frame off with a single to left.
Alyssa Doomis then hit her first career double, and Tori Livingston drove home D'Ambrosio with a fielder's choice.
Hannibal-LaGrange added three insurance runs in the top of the 7th, however, resulting in the 6-1 final score.
Jamie Stanton led the attack with a pair of base hits, going 2-for-3 with a double, while also pitching all seven innings, allowing three earned runs on the day.
In game two, Trinity was held to just three hits in a five-inning defeat, with four Trojans in all reaching base safely. TIU's best chance game in the 4th inning, when D'Ambrosio and
Alyssa Doomis hit back-to-back leadoff singles, and Livingston loaded the bases with a walk. St. Francis shut the door with three straight strikeouts, ending the chance of a Trojan rally.
Trinity wraps up their eight-game Florida swing tomorrow afternoon, with rematches against both Hannibal-LaGrange and St. Francis, starting at 4:00 p.m. Central.
