Season Stats: TIU | Trinity Christian

This Week
With the recent snowfall, Trinity International will have to wait a little while longer for their first home games of the 2015 season, as Tuesday's doubleheader with Cardinal Stritch has been postponed. The Trojans will now focus their attention on the Trinity Christian Trolls, for a road matchup set for this Thursday, March 26, from Palos Heights. Video and live stats will be available for both games, at TIUTrojans.com.

Last Time Out
The Trojans opened the conference season last week, falling in a pair of games against Purdue-North Central at TIU's home away from home, Heritage Park in Wheeling. Sophomore pitcher Breanna Hansen looked solid in the first game, pitching all seven innings and allowing just three runs, while Ashley O'Brien went 2-for-3 with a run scored. The Panthers took a 3-1 win in the opener, before jumping out to a big lead in the second game of the day, resulting in a 16-0 decision in five innings.

New Coach
Head coach Kim McFarlin begins her first season in charge of the Trojan softball program, returning to her alma mater after playing for TIU from 2005-08. McFarlin was a two-year team captain for the Trojans, and had a career batting average over .300 while patrolling the outfield. After graduating from Trinity, McFarlin has worked at Hawthorn Elementary South in Vernon Hills, Ill., teaching physical education. For the past six seasons, she has also coached at Libertyville High School, maintaining a record over .500 every year at the JV level.

Team Leaders
The sophomore duo of Breanna Hansen and Jamie Stanton have led the Trojans so far this season, both at the plate and in the circle. Hansen leads the team with a 4.88 ERA and has appeared in eight of nine games, pitching a total of 28.2 innings. Stanton has been the best hitting Trojan in the early portion of the season, with a .318 batting average, along with a team-high three RBI. The Dwight, Ill. native also either leads the team or is tied for the lead in hits (7), doubles (2), and total bases (9), and is also made four appearances as a pitcher herself, throwing 15.1 innings and allowing a team-low .231 average to opponents.
