Jeremiah Carter were selected by the conference as the MSFA Midwest League Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, released by the league office on Monday.
Schussler earns his second straight MSFA Player of the Week honor, after being selected following Trinity's season-opening win at Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Aug. 29. The junior collected a team-high nine tackles in against the Warriors on Saturday, and also grabbed his first interception of the year, early in the fourth quarter with the Trojans holding on to a one-possession lead at the time. On the season, Schusser leads Trinity with 20 tackles through two games, including four tackles for loss. The Wrightstown, Wisc. native now has MSFA Player of the Week honors for his career.
Carter earns his second career Player of the Week selection, and his first since his freshman season in 2013. The Irvine, Calif. native tied a school record with four field goals, including two in a row from 46 yards out on Saturday. The pair of 46-yarders come just two yards shy of Carter's career long, and three short of matching another program record. The junior finished with 14 points on the night, adding in a pair of extra-point conversions.
Trinity International will wrap up their current three-game road swing on Saturday, when they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. and take on St. Francis (Ind.). Kickoff against the Cougars is set for 11:00 a.m. CDT.
