Trojans wrap up busy week with home matchup with Trolls

• Trinity International returns home for the third game in five days, when they host the Trinity Christian Trolls on Saturday afternoon.

• The Trojans are working to rebound after a 65-35 loss at Cardinal Stritch on Saturday, in which the team finished with a season-low point total.
• Senior guard Sarina Falvo leads the team with 11.6 points per game this season. Falvo has scored double figures in four of her last six games, including 14 points against St. Ambrose on Tuesday.
• Senior Rayelle Ross is second in scoring for the Trojans, with 8.3 points per game. Ross is also the team leader in steals, with 26.
• In seven games after returning from injury, Basha Ramsey has averaged 7.0 points with a team-high 5.4 rebounds per game, as five different Trojans are pulling down four or more boards per game.
• As a team, the Trojans rank 12th in the NAIA in free throw shooting, connecting at the charity stripe with a .745 percentage. Trinity shot a season-best 19-of-20 (.950) from the free throw line in the win over Calumet St. Joseph on Dec. 10.
• TIU head coach Laurel Wartluft earned her 355th career victory at Cincinnati Christian on Nov. 5. Wartluft is one of 15 active coaches in NAIA Division II with 350 or more victories.
• Trinity is averaging 60.6 points per game as a team, good for 13th in the CCAC. Defensively, the Trojans allow an average of 64.0 points per game, ranking 4th in the league.
• Trinity Christian averages 71.8 points per game, the 5th-best offense in the league. The Trolls rank 11th in the CCAC on the defensive end, allowing 71.5 points each night.
• Trinity ranks 4th in the CCAC with an average of 10.9 steals per game. The team's average grew by more than two steals per game after recording a season-high 31 in the win over Lincoln Christian on Dec. 7.
• The Trojans are looking to improve upon last season's record of 8-19, which was the program's highest win total in three seasons.

Series History
• Thursday will be the 26th meeting between the Trojans and Trolls since the 2003-04 season. Trinity Christian narrowly leads the series, 13-12.
• Trinity Christian had won four in a row until the Trojans broke that streak with their first win over TCC in three seasons last year.

Last Time Out vs. Trinity Christian
• Two Trojans finished with double-doubles, as Trinity International used a big third period to earn a 64-56 road win over the Trolls on Jan. 9, 2016.
• Senior guard JaToya Woods finished with a team-high 18 points and 14 rebounds for her first career double-double, while junior Marlou Peters came off the bench with 11 points and 13 boards, her second double-double this year.

Scouting the Opponent
• The Trolls snapped a two-game slide on Thursday night, winning at home over Governors State. TCC have won three of their last five, including a pair of home wins in league play.
• Juniors Celina Wanta leads the team with 12.7 points per game, ranking 20th in the CCAC.
• Wanta is also 2nd in the league, and 9th in the NAIA, with 46 steals on the year.

National Leaders
• Sarina Falvo ranks 15th among the NAIA national leaders in free throw shooting, connecting at the stripe with an .865 percentage.

Trojan Program History
• Head Coach Laurel Wartluft is one of the winningest active head coaches in the NAIA; Wartluft has collected 358 wins over her 26 years as a head coach.
• TIU has made two appearances at the NAIA Women's Basketball Championship, in 1992-93, and 1994-95. The Trojans lost in the first round both times, to College of the Ozarks (Mo.) in 1993, and Western Oregon in 1995.
• Since 2003-04, TIU has posted an overall record of 163-252 (.393).
•Trinity International has never appeared in the NAIA Coaches Poll since it's debut in 1999-00.

1,000 Point Club
• Since 2003-04, four Trojans have reached 1,000 career points, most recently Brittany Simon (2009-13), with 1,019 points.
• Basha Ramsey is the active career leader in scoring, with 618 points.
