DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a face-off against conference opponent Judson University, the Trojans fought hard but then eventually fell short of the win after surrendering the lead in the second half.
The game started off competitively, with the Eagles and the Trojans trading points back and forth. Neither team carried a lead greater than a few points until late in the first half. TIU started out strong defensively, with Tashyra Burrough finishing with seven defensive rebounds and Nika Bracun adding six of her own.
The close battle went on until the Eagles went on a scoring run and taking the lead away, and the Trojans could not recover from the deficit. However, the Trojans took advantage of the foul trouble the Eagles gave them. The half ended with two good free throws from Sophia Anaya, and the Trojans ended the half down 23-42.
The Trojans began the third quarter with a fire, not allowing the Judson lead to grow. Brandilyn Robertson came out strong in the half, with two aggressive back-to-back buckets in the paint and a third shortly after.
The Eagles sealed the win in the fourth quarter, as the Trojans' comeback efforts fell short. Bridgette Smith and Anaya led the team in scoring, adding fifteen points each.
The Lady Trojans will play again this Saturday, December 2nd, as they hit the road and aim to take down Robert Morris.
