 • With just eight games remaining on the conference schedule, Trinity International prepares for an important CCAC doubleheader on Saturday, when they host the Judson Eagles.

 • The Trojans are coming off a tough matchup at St. Ambrose on Thursday in which they dropped both games of a doubleheader, including a 3-2 defeat in 12 innings.
 • Trinity currently sits 8th in the CCAC standings, with a 7-9 conference record. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the CCAC Tournament, held in Rosemont, Ill. on May 4-7. 
 • On Mar. 30, the Trojans split a doubleheader with #16 St. Francis, winning game one for their first win over a nationally-ranked team since 2006. Peyton Carli's go-ahead RBI triple helped give TIU a 4-2 win as Grace Magnuson pitched five innings with just four hits allowed.
• The team started the month of April with seven straight wins, the longest winning streak for the program since before 2006. The win streak included an extra-inning victory over Roosevelt on Apr. 5, which saw the Trojans come from behind in both the 7th and 8th innings to secure a 4-3 win.
 • Freshman outfielder Payton Carli leads the team with a .409 batting average and .486 on-base percentage. Carli has started all 30 games this season, and has the team's longest current hitting streak at the moment, at five games. Carli set a career high with four base hits in the extra-inning win at Purdue-Northwest on Tuesday. Carli has also reached base in each of the last 15 games, the longest streak for any Trojan this season.
 • Sophomore pitcher Taylor Carli has posted a 3.25 ERA through 21 appearances to lead the Trojan pitching staff. On Thursday, Carli pitched a combined 13.1 innings while allowing just three earned runs on the day.
 • With 11 victories so far this season, the Trojans have secured their highest win total since 2007. Trinity last earned double-digit victories in 2007 (18-23), and their most recent winning season game in 2006 (23-22).
 • Junior catcher Alyssa Doomis has driven in a team-leading 28 RBI on the year, and is hitting for a .330 average. With seven doubles and two triples, Doomis leads the Trojans with a .447 slugging percentage.
 • Three freshman have four of the team's highest averages at the plate. Behind Payton Carli's .409 average is third baseman Sara Grygus, who is hitting .315 on the season, and center fielder Jessica Vroman, hitting .271 with a .360 on-base percentage as the team's primary leaoff hitter.
 • Vroman and Payton Carli have both reached double digits in stolen bases this year, as Vroman leads the team with 13 swipes on 15 attempts. Carli has recorded 10 stolen bases on 12 tries.
 • Freshman Grace Magnuson has made 13 starts on the season in the pitchers' circle, and has posted a 5-6 record through her debut season. The Gurnee, Ill. native earned back-to-back wins over Calumet St. Joseph and Trinity Christian on Apr. 7-8, giving up just three runs in 13 innings of work.
 • Freshman right fielder Tenley Bozzi is one of four players to start every game this season, along with Payton Carli, Alyssa Doomis, and Jessica Vroman. Bozzi is hitting .235 on the season, with seven RBI and eight runs scored. In Thursday's doubleheader at St. Ambrose, Bozzi picked up three hits to lead Trinity, including her third double of the season.
 • Senior Jamie Stanton has started 29 of 30 games, and is hitting .213 on the season with a .308 on-base percentage.
 • The Trojans are hitting .261 as a team this season, the 11th-highest average in the CCAC. Judson are hitting .320, good for 4th in the league.
 • Trinity has posted a 4.34 ERA, ranking 10th in the CCAC, while Judson's 2.82 ERA ranks 3rd in the conference.
 • Trinity saw the first player of the week honors of the Kent Szarabajka era over the past two weeks; freshman Payton Carli was selected as the NCCAA National Hitter of the Week on Apr. 4, after the Trojans' upset victory over #16 St. Francis on Mar. 29. Junior Alyssa Doomis was named the CCAC Player of the Week on Tuesday, after the Trojans capped their seven-game winning streak as Doomis posted a .478 average from Apr. 4-8.

 

About Judson

 • The Eagles lead the series over Trinity dating back to 2006, by an 18-6 margin. Judson has claimed the last 13 meetings over TIU, with the Trojans last winning in 2010.
 • Judson are coming off a pair of split doubleheaders with St. Xavier and Robert Morris on Wednesday and Thursday, and currently sit 4th in the CCAC standings with an 8-4 record in league play.
• Senior pitcher Elizabeth Walker has thrown 132.1 innings so far this season, ranking 24th in the NAIA. Walker holds a record of 15-9 with a 2.96 ERA, and ranks 19th in the NAIA in victories.
• Freshman Skye Osborne leads the team with a .400 batting average, .716 slugging percentage, and 32 RBI on the season.

 

Trojans in the Polls

 • TIU Softball was picked to finish 11th out of 13 in the CCAC preseason poll, released on Jan. 16.
 • The Trojans are have yet to earn a spot in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, dating back to the poll's debut in 2000.

 

TIU Softball History

• Since 2006, Trinity Softball has an all-time record of 85-348 (.196). The Trojans' last winning season came in 2006, when TIU finished 23-22.
• Trinity earned just one victory in three seasons from 2013-2015 before turning the program around last season. The Trojans had lost 100 consecutive games before defeating Mount Mary (Wisc.) on Apr. 4, 2015.
• Trinity's last appearance in the CCAC Tournament came in 2007, when the Trojans went 1-2, falling to eventual conference champ St. Xavier.
• The Trojans have made one appearance in the NCCAA National Championship, also in 2007. The Trojans upset the higher-seeded Emmanuel (Ga.) before falling in the quarterfinals. Trinity has never made an appearance in the NAIA Softball World Series.
