Junior college duo sign with TIU Women's Basketball

DEERFIELD, Ill. - First-year head coach Irvin Jerry has added two more signings to the Trinity women's basketball incoming class of 2017, in guards Demi Kouretas and Eunice Kim. The pair will join the Trojans this fall after a successful two-year stint as teammates at Gavilan College (Calif.)

The duo helped lead the Rams to an 18-7 record last season, a 12-win turnaround from their freshman campaigns, as Gavilan reached the CCCAA Northern California regional playoffs for the first time in program history. Kouretas would start 25 of 26 games on the season, averaging 6.7 points per game. She also led Gavilan with 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals per contest, and was named to the All-Coast Conference First Team as a sophomore.

"We are excited to add a guard like Demi to the program," said Jerry. "She is a perfect fit for our defensive system. Her leadership and ability to play on and off the ball gives us versatility and depth at the guard spot. She's been a part of helping turn a program around at Gavilan College, and I have no doubt that experience will come in handy as she helps us build a winning program at Trinity."

"I chose to play at TIU because I know it'll be a good fit for me," Kouretas added. "I think having a good bond with the coach already is something that made me want to play more. I'm excited to see what the season will look like and the chemistry I will build with the team."

Kim made 20 appearances on the season for Gavilan, averaging 5.9 points per game. At point guard, Kim averaged 2.8 assists per game, with four or more assists in seven contests. "I couldn't be happier to have signed E," said Jerry. :Her speed, quickness and instincts on both sides of the ball will be invaluable. Every player has a role on a team and in order for us to play at our pace and our tempo we needed to add a player like E. She's a winner and a great addition to the program."

"A fast paced style with a team led by a new coach sounded intriguing," said Kim on joining her former teammate at Trinity. "It was exciting to know I could keep playing with my teammate along with all the other inviting and hard working teammates I will get."

Kouretas and Kim will join earlier signings Bridgette Smith and Kylee Daniels in the newcoming class, as the 2017-18 season begins in just four months.
