Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. - A career night from Junior
Kylee Daniels was not enough as the TIU Women's Basketball team fell just short, suffering a 57-52 road loss to Governors State on Wednesday evening.
Daniels would finish the night with 17 points, the most she totaled in a game in her Trojan career. The Junior went a perfect 4-4 from behind the three point line en route to finishing as the games leading scorer.
The opening half saw the Trojans struggle finding their groove shooting the ball, as the Trinity went just 5-24 from the field, shooting just 20% from the field. A late basket from
Tashyra Burrough with 49 seconds left made it a 20-18 game but the Jaguars would add two more late buckets to take a 24-18 lead into the break.
In the final 20 minutes of the game Trinity started knocking down shots as the Trojans connected on 12 field goals, while going 2-10 from three point range. TIU would outscore GSU 34-33 in the second half, but the late baskets before the halftime buzzer proved to be the difference.
The Lady Trojans will be back in action this Saturday as TIU hosts Roosevelt University at 1 PM inside the Van Dixhorn Arena.
