DEERFIELD, Ill.—The Lady Trojans weren't able to break their six-game losing streak as they struggled offensively in a 50-91 loss Wednesday evening against the #17 ranked St. Francis Fighting Saints.
Juniors Justice Moore and Kylee Daniels and freshman Bridgette Smith led the team in scoring, all contributing a solid 13 points each. Redshirt freshman Brandilyn Robertson dominated the boards throughout the course of the game, leading all players in rebounds.
Despite the strong efforts, St. Francis's fast-paced offense and aggressive defense proved to be too much for the Trojans to keep up with.
The Trojans started off the game with the lead and shot for an impressive 62% from the field in the first quarter, but St. Francis came out with even more offensive firepower.
USF set the pace for the game by scoring 25 points in the first quarter and taking the lead away early on, while the Lady Trojans' struggled scoring for the remainder of the game.
Once St. Francis took the lead midway through the first quarter, TIU was unable to gain it back. St. Francis played excellent defense—gaining 18 steals and forcing TIU to 30 turnovers, with TIU only forcing 13 turnovers and picking up just 7 steals.
The Lady Trojans look to snap the streak and get a win as they face conference opponent Calumet St. Joseph at home in the Van Dixhorn Arena this Saturday at 5:00.
