Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - After trailing by as much as 24 points in the first half the TIU Women's Basketball team battled back to earn a hard fought 64-58 CCAC win over Calumet St. Joseph on Saturday evening.

The Crimson Wave came out of the gate quickly on Saturday, scoring 30 points in the opening quarter to take a commanding 30-8 lead after the first 10 minutes of the game. TIU could not seem to find their groove offensively, and struggled from the line throughout the majority of the first half. The Trojan defense came to life in the second quarter, shutting down CCSJ and holding them to only 8 points in the second frame.

Trailing 38-19 at the start of the third quarter the Lady Trojans began to chip away at the deficit. The strong defense that the Trojans played inn the second quarter carried over into the second half as TIU held the Wave to just a combined 20 points over the two quarters of play.

Along with the solid defense Trinity had arguably their best shooting half of the season, connecting on 52% of their shots while knocking down 7 three pointers. The turning point in the game came in the 4th Quarter when Tashyra Burrough and the Trojans rattled off a 14-4 run to close out the game in the final 2:28. Burrough would knock down a pair of triples on back to back possessions to give the Trojans the late lead and help seal the 64-58 victory.

Bridgette Smith finished the game with her second double-double of the season, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

The Lady Trojans look to make it two wins in a row on Monday when they travel to Iowa to take on Emmaus Bible College at 6:30 PM.
