Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a game that saw 8 lead changes the TIU Women's Basketball team came up just short of their second consecutive CCAC win, suffering a 57-46 loss to Indiana University - South Bend on Wednesday evening.
Bridgette Smith had another solid game for TIU, finishing with a game high 13 points, while also grabbing 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Sophomore
Brandilyn Robertson also finished as one of the Trojans top performers, scoring 9 points while grabbing 9 boards in the loss.
The opening frame saw the Trojans struggle finding their shot, shooting just 24% from the field. TIU would only connect on seven field goals, while going 0-12 from behind the arc. Though Trinity struggled getting points on the board, a strong half defensively held IUSB to just 30 points in the half, keeping them in the game going into the halftime break.
In the second half TIU would pick things up offensively while continuing their solid defensive effort from the first half. The Trojans would go 50% from the field in the second half, including knocking down a pair of triples. With 9:04 to go in the fourth quarter after trailing by as much as 14 the Trojans would cut the deficit to 6 after a pair of
Kylee Daniels free throws, but that is as close as TIU would come. IUSB closed out the game with a few clutch buckets in the final moments and held on to defeat TIU 57-46.
The Trojans look to get back in the win column when they travel to the city to take on #4 St. Xavier at 1 PM.
